Every day I see business-related acronyms I don’t know but should, and each time I get overwhelmed and anxious. I saw “SOP” for the millionth time today and finally decided to look it up. When I looked it up, I immediately thought about fellow entrepreneurs who are overwhelmed by the thought of creating a course for their business.
“SOP” stands for Standard Operating Procedure/s. As entrepreneurs, we need SOP to scale our businesses. As a course creator, having an SOP is an effective and efficient way to create courses without being overwhelmed.
You can also use this premise to help brainstorm (or revise) your course. Many people brainstorm by giving partial attention to an idea, then quickly shift attention to another idea, then another, then another, and so on. This is why you may feel overwhelmed by the thought of creating or revising a course. Your feelings of overwhelm are because you do not have an SOP for your brainstorming.
Brainstorming without a purpose or procedure is simply daydreaming. Brainstorming a course should have a purpose; it should be an intentional process with a specific goal. This goal is not to construct a fully developed course in one brainstorming session. Remember, brainstorming is the first step in the process of creating a course for your business; brainstorming is a critical part of your course SOP.
When you have a purpose and procedure for brainstorming your course, it will minimize your feelings of overwhelm and panic so that you can prepare to build your course.
Sharing your comments and questions will help me understand what entrepreneurs need in terms of creating courses for their business.
