Death by Data: Data Can Kill Your Training Project.
I used that phrase in a comment recently and it seemed to resonate with a lot of people. So I'll say more.
During my years of work as a healthcare clinician, researcher, professor, and now as a consultant, I understand the value of data. BUT here are 5 ways data can kill the movement of any project. How not to make this mistake:
- The Answers Are Not Solved with 100% Numerical Data.
Quantitative data provides part of the answer. Include creativity, human behavior, and current events to establish answers to problems. - Data Collection Methods Matter.
Too often data is incomplete, disorganized, or simply unusable. Data collection methods matter and should be created, conducted, and analyzed using reliable methods. - Data Analysis Should Not Be Quantum Physics.
Data is just information to draw conclusions or make decisions. Small cases, businesses, or projects should use easy-to-understand data. A more complex problem requires an equally matched data analysis. - Data Alone Does Not Make Change.
Analyses must be shared with others, and when sharing, it should be easy to understand! People cannot use what they don't understand. - Data Is Not Bad and Does Not Point Out Flaws.
Data is only a resource; it's not bad or good and should not be used to victimize people. Interpreted data paints part of the picture. Data is a resource to find opportunities.
➡️ Data should be a life-giving resource.
➡️ Don't let things die because of data.
